On August 21, 2025, Educational Testing Service (ETS) announced that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has approved it as a designated language testing organization. This means IRCC will soon accept the TOEFL Essentials Test to assess English language ability.
IRCC has not yet started accepting TOEFL Essentials. Official updates will be provided on government websites once the rollout begins.

  • Format: Practical, task-based activities reflecting real-life communication
  • Duration: ~1.5 hours
