For the first time, Canada welcomes individuals from trade occupations categories to boost the economic growth & development

The category-based selection draws in Express Entry invite candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for a specific category established by the Minister. These categories are designed to help Canada achieve its economic goals by targeting candidates with specific skills and qualifications that are in high demand in the country. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1500 invitations to apply (ITAs) to candidates in the first-ever Express Entry draw based on targeted category for candidates in the trades on August 3, 2023. The cut-off score for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) was 388.

The IRCC issued the inaugural Express Entry category-based draw for candidates with expertise in trades professions. Carpentry, plumbing, and welding are among the occupations included in the category, which will help Canada draw in more people to its construction sector.
