Marc Miller, a Quebec Member of Parliament, has been appointed as Canada's new immigration minister8/2/2023 Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced substantial changes to his cabinet on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Marc Miller, a Quebec Member of Parliament, is Canada's next immigration minister. Miller has been formerly serving as Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, a position designed to assist Indigenous peoples' self-determination in Canada. Sean Fraser, Canada's most recent Immigration Minister, has been appointed Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, and Communities. Miller was elected to Canada's Parliament for the first time in 2015. Miller worked as a lawyer and served in the Canadian Armed Forces before joining politics. Miller was born in Montreal and reared there. He received two degrees in Political Science from the Université de Montréal and his law degree from McGill University. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 2000 invitations to apply (ITAs) to candidates in a all program draw on August 1, 2023. The cut-off score for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) was 517. On July 11, 800 candidates having a minimum CRS score of 505 were invited to an all-program draw. On July 12, The IRCC invited 3,800 French-speaking applicants to apply for permanent residence through a category-based selection draw. They required a CRS score of at least 375.
From July 4-7 for the first time in Express Entry history, ITAs were given on four consecutive days during the whole week of July. The draw on July 4 was an unexpected all-program draw, with 700 applicants invited. They required a CRS score of at least 511.On July 5, the IRCC performed a previously announced STEM category-based selection draw. IRCC welcomed 500 applicants having a CRS score of at least 486. On July 6 In an anticipated category-based selection draw for healthcare professionals, IRCC invited 1,500 applicants with a CRS of 463 or above. On July 7, 2,300 invites were granted to Express Entry candidates with strong French language skills and a CRS of 439 or above. It is great to hear that the new minister will continue the good work of Sean Fraser and meet the immigration level targets.
